Heather & Ray {Tallahassee engagement portraits}

Heather has been so excited for her engagement session… I thought at one point she might just pop!  She had the clothes all picked out, the location set and she was ready to go.  And then… Ray went fishing.  The sunburn that followed resulted in a flurry of emails and a reschedule for the portrait session.  I honestly don’t think Heather will ever let Ray forget it! :)   He was such a good sport about all the teasing and we ended up with a beautiful day in Southwood for their session!

Amber & Ron {Tallahassee Wedding Photographer}

We photograph a LOT of garnet and gold weddings– here in Tallahassee, its not uncommon to have FSU as a wedding theme.  Blue and Maize, however, were new for me.  Amber & Ron’s University of Michigan themed wedding so suited them– college sweethearts and avid Blue fans, they had to plan their big day for Michigan football’s by-week.  :)   As an FSU alum, I have to say I learned A LOT about Michigan traditions! :)

Joanna & Adam {Tallahassee wedding photography}

Its always such a privilege to be a part of someone’s wedding day, but sometimes the couple is so wonderful you have to pinch yourself just to be sure this is really your job.  :)   Joanna and Adam are one of the coolest couples we have ever worked with– I don’t think anything phased them all day despite running inside and outside to do portraits in between rain storms.  Their wedding was full of the most thoughtful touches and beautiful accents, paired with a very close group of friends and family to celebrate with– the day was about as perfect as you could hope for!

Donald & Helen {South Carolina wedding photography}

I have been a bridesmaid more times than I care to count.   When I became a wedding photographer I swore that if I loved anyone enough to be IN their wedding, then I would volunteer to be their photographer instead.  So, when my brother proposed to Helen, I immediately knew I would be their photographer.  Its not as easy as it sounds to photograph your family– especially when you have to travel two states away, photograph it without your normal partner and only take half your gear due to travel restrictions.  Not to mention that your friends and family never listen to you quite the same way clients do! :)   Nonetheless, I was thrilled to be a part of Donald and Helen’s big day and I think they have images that capture how intimate and spiritual their wedding was.

Alicia & Michael

Alicia and Michael first booked us for their Tallahassee wedding nearly 18 months ago.  Having this much time to get to know our couples is just amazing.  By the time the wedding comes, we are old friends and that is definitely the way we felt with Alicia and Michael.  They are such a wonderful fun-loving couple that I knew we would have a blast with their wedding, but I truly had no idea how phenomenal it really would be.  We were with them for ten hours, but honestly the night ended before I knew it!  We had total creative freedom and we just had the best time playing with them!  I want to ask them to do it again every weekend!

Alicia

I am so excited to finally share Alicia’s bridal portraits!  We did the session at the beginning of the summer and I have been holding it until after her wedding.  Saturday was an amazing day with Alicia and Michael and I am so glad we were able to be a part of it.  We will be posting their wedding sneak peek later this week, but for now, here are her bridal portraits!

The Engagement Session

All of our packages include an engagement session and some prospective clients see it as an unnecessary add-on, but for Olyn and I, the engagement session is a key in doing our jobs well.  The engagement session is a chance for us to get to know our couples, see how they interact with a camera around, learn how comfortable they are together and with the camera and figure out the dynamic of their particular relationship.  When we have our couples come in for their order session, its an additional chance to learn what they like in images and what they don’t– whether its a specific body part, angle, etc. that they don’t care for or a style of shooting that they really love.  Those observations and that feedback allows us to tailor our approach to that specific couple and be confident we are capturing the images they dreamed of.

I strongly encourage every bride and groom to have an engagement session with their photographer– no matter who it is.  You need an opportunity to see how that person will photograph you, get to know their personality and make sure the fit is correct before the wedding day.  Nerves and stress tend to run high on a wedding day and the last thing you will want is a stranger with a camera in your face.  By having that engagement session, you should be friends with your photographer, know what to expect, have confidence in their work and be able to truly be yourself.  So, really engagement portraits aren’t so much about the portraits and is more about the relationship with your photographer.

Cindy & Robin- A Golden Eagle Country Club Wedding

Usually we spend close to a year getting to know our couples, but for Cindy and Robin, they booked us less than two weeks before the wedding and we didn’t even meet Robin until the wedding day. Normally, this would put the OCD in me into overdrive, but both Cindy and Robin are the most laid back, welcoming people you could imagine. They are the kind of people that within minutes you feel like you have known them forever. Their wedding really felt the same way– an intimate celebration where the focus was on the union of their families and not on any trivial detail. I am so thrilled Olyn and I were able to be a part of their day!

Shannon & Dan- A Maclay Gardens Wedding

Saturday was the perfect day for a Maclay Gardens wedding and Olyn and I were so thrilled that Shannon and Dan chose us to be a part of it.  The day was overflowing with special details– from the apple name cards, awesome flower pillow for the ringbearer, the “I Do” signs, wine bottle table numbers, it just went on and on.  I have never done an apple themed wedding before, but Shannon made apples look like the most haute couture accessory!  I absolutely loved all the bright green accents and whimsical notes that really set their wedding apart from any other wedding we have photographed.
